### Ingredients:
#### For the Cake:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

### Instructions:
#### Step 1: Prepare the Cake Batter
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar together on medium-high speed until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
5. Reduce the mixer speed to low and alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
#### Step 2: Bake the Cake
1. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops with a spatula.
2. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

1. Place one cake layer on a serving plate or cake stand. Spread a layer of buttercream frosting on top.
2. Place the second cake layer on top and spread a thin layer of frosting over the entire cake (this is the crumb coat). Refrigerate the cake for 15-30 minutes to set the crumb coat.
3. Remove the cake from the refrigerator and spread the remaining frosting evenly over the top and sides of the cake.
